Please ask us to quote for Countryside Stewardship BN11 and BN7 mixed native farm hedging. Prices start from around £4.45 + VAT per metre excluding guards and canes. We can supply pre-set native hedge mixes or bespoke mixes to suit your preference.
For DEFRA compliant Countryside Stewardship mixed native farm hedging BN11 (new hedge) and BN7 (gapping up), plants must be 2 years old and a minimum of 45-60cm high. They must be planted in a double row at 6 or more plants per metre, with 40cm between each row.
The hedge must consist of UK native species with no one species representing more than 70%. Normally Hawthorn is the dominant species with the remainder made up of other native hedge whips such as Blackthorn, Dog Rose, Native Dogwood, Field Maple, and Hazel.
Countryside Stewardship grant compliant hedges must be planted between 1st November and 31st March.
Newly planted hedging should be protected against damage by livestock or wild animals with either Spiral Guards and Bamboo Canes or a stock proof fence. Keep the hedge line clear of weeds for the first year and cut back all plants by at least a third in the first 2 years to encourage bushiness.
